To do this project, I went to Kinkos and photocopied my hand a bunch of different times, moving it slightly and changing the position each time. I used the different shapes my hands made to create tree roots. I wanted to add some texture and color so the top portion is made out of real leaves.
I really liked your xerox project. The authentic (organic if I remember correctly)leaves really add a nice display to the hands being the roots. For some reason this reminds me of the Lion King and Animal kingdom from Disney. Must be the tree diagrams, the theme park and movie promote?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great job
I loved it, prehaps show some decay leaves in another picture to add an after effect. The fist really adds power to the piece, being either the main root, or trunk of the tree. The other hands really shows a 3-d distortion of being piled on one another to add a chain of life to the tree.
I really liked your art but I think it would have been bettered served with a little more color :) Great idea for the hands as roots though!
ReplyDeleteLeaving your hands in black and white made the green leaves pop out! It would have been really cool if you painted your hands (or another part of your body) green and used that as leaves instead of actual leaves. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour tree of 2d hands in combination with actual tree foliage was great. I loved your project. The fingers interlaced as roots was my favorite part.
ReplyDeleteI liked this one the most. It was a great way to build from scans into a larger image as a whole. Great job.
